Last Chance To Grab Tickets to Leeds Architecture Awards!
On Thursday 2nd February the winner of the 24th Leeds Architecture Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony taking place at Leeds Town Hall, covering the best of the cities developments completed in the last 24 months. The awards are to celebrate and promote the high standard of architectural excellency that Leeds demands, and in doing so it is hoped that the developers and regenerators of tomorrow will be inspired to rise to the challenge of pushing the boundaries, to create something special with each and every project. Together they can establish Leeds as a centre for architectural beauty, one which its people can feel proud to live and work in.
The shortlist includes the newly refurbished City Varieties Music Hall; the stunning home of Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre; Left Bank Leeds, a refurbished church now being used as an events space (winner of the 2011 Heritage Angels Award – a national award for rescued heritage buildings).
There are a number of different categories, including, New Buildings, Conserved Buildings, Altered Buildings, Temporary Works, and a Special Mention. There aren't many architectural awards that honour temporary buildings, but the Leeds Architectural Awards aim to see that everyone that rightly deserves praise and recognition are recognised.
